Studies on Pterocarpus marsupium wood:

Pterocarpus marsupium (Bijasal or Honne) wood is used in construction. However, it has water soluble colouring matter which leaches out when the timber is exposed to rain and hinders in its utility as construction timber.

Treatment with some simple inorganic chemicals in combination was found to be effective in controlling the leaching of water soluble colouring matter from Pterocarpus marsupium wood, which may help in overcoming the common problems with this wood.
