A. CONVENTIONAL TRAINING

 

 

 

MODULE I : FUNDAMENTAL WOOD WORKING

 

This course is for S.S.L.C. Passed candidates.

 

Course Covers: Wood as materials Part I, Reconstituted Panel Part I, Selection of Wood and Defects in wood, Theoretical and practical Training is given on Sawing, Planing, Chiseling and Shaping and Boring Operations. Training is provided on Simple Joints like Mortise and Tenon, Dove Tail, Dowel and also grooving operation. Panel Products with their advantage and disadvantage, Cutting, Shaping Boring Operation on panel products and fittings used therein. The course covers Elemental Designing with making of drawing, Bill of materials and estimating. Finishing of wooden products is added feature. At the end a Test is conducted and certificates issued.

 

MODULE II: BASIC MECHANICAL PROCESSING

 

       This course is for persons completed Module I / I.T.I Certificate holders in carpentry / practicing carpenters / persons working in wood factory.

 

Course Covers: The course deals in wood as material Part II, Panel materials II, Theory and Practice in working with Power Tools such as Circular Saw, Jig Saw, Router, Drilling/Boring Machines, Overview of Classical Machines, Demonstration on Machine and Safety Procedures. Demonstration & Practice on Circular Saw, Band Saw, Radial Arm Saw, Surfacer/Thicknesser. Theory and Practice on Spindle Moulder, Tools & Tooling, Maintenance and Safety Precautions. The course concludes with a Test and award of Certificate.

 

MODULE III: ADVANCED MECHANICAL PROCESSING

 

       Persons completed Module II are eligible for the advanced course. This course deals in complete mechanical wood working.

 

Course contents: Introduction to Panel Materials, Operation, Tool setting, and adjustments of Panel Saw, Spindle Moulder machines & Multiple boring machines, exposure is given to Edge Banding process with preglued Edge Bands. Selection of tools and their maintenance, and a visit to an Industrial Manufacturing Unit. Lamination & Hot Pressing, Tooling & Maintenance of Tools is also covered. Advanced designing including drawing, Bill of materials, and estimates with project work of manufacturing the designed product, finishing of wooden products are covered in depth. The course concludes with a Test and award of Certificates.

 

B. CNC TRAINING:

 

  CNC Machine is the compact machine for high performance designing and useful in production of furniture, core panel doors, door elements, windows and stairs. It is the ideal machine for craftsmanship, small shops and for the development of new products in big companies. There are 3 modules in this course
  • Module 1 :   Fundamentals of CNC Router

  • Module 2 :   Basic Properties and Programming on CNC Router

  • Module 3 :   Advanced programming and operations on CNC Router

 

Course Details

The Training course consists of conventional training and CNC training. The duration of conventional training is 4 weeks and of CNC course is 2 weeks. The details are given below:

 

Conventional Course (4 weeks):

  • Module I -   Fundamentals of Woodworking (1 Week)

  • Module II -  Basic Mechanical Wood Processing (1 Weeks)

  • Module III - Advanced Mechanical Wood Processing (2 Weeks)

• The course fee for 4 weeks training program will be Rs.5000/- (Rs. five thousand only) per trainee.

 

 

CNC Course (2 weeks):

  • Module 1 :   Fundamentals of CNC Router (1 Week)

  • Module 2 :   Basic Properties and Programming on CNC Router (1 Week)

  • Module 3 :   Advanced programming and operations on CNC Router

 

The classes are held in the centre from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM everyday except Saturdays, Sundays and General Holidays.

Accommodation

 

      The outstation candidates can avail hostel accommodation at the Guest House in the IWST campus where the Center is situated. However, the trainees have to pay a nominal amount for the the entire training course towards accommodation charges. The food charges have to be borne by the trainees separately.

 

 

Selection Procedure

       The candidates should possess a minimum of S.S.L.C. qualification to join  the course. The candidates should send their Bio-data in prescribed format through e-mail/post or directly in person to the address mentioned below at least 15 days before commencing of the Batch. The format of biodata can be downloaded from the website. After Scrutiny, the information about selection will be sent to the candidates for joining the course. The candidate should bring following documents:

 

       1. Certificate to prove their qualification, Age etc…

       2. Passport size photographs.

Training:

      The training includes theory and practical for all the 3 modules. The theory classes are conducted in a fully equipped classroom including LCD projector. During theory class there will be interactions, discussions and seminars to develop the personality of the students.

 

      During practical, the students will undergo training for operation, safety and maintenance aspects of almost 20 Italian woodworking machineries. 

 

       The project work is also included in the 3rd module to equip them to make end use products by using solid wood material and panel materials. At the end of the course there will be an INDUSTRIAL VISIT to any one of the leading industries in Bangalore to know the activities of the Industry and to have an exposure with various machineries used in wood Industry.

 

 

Job Opportunities

       There is a shortage of trained manpower in modern woodworking sector, the trainees those who have successfully completed all the 3 modules will find placement in various woodworking companies in India.

 

The Certificate

       The Certificate will be issued to the trainees after conducting Viva at the end of the course.
